Paul Srivorakul, regional CEO of aCommerce, took the time off his busy schedule to chat with me about the e-commerce opportunities in Southeast Asia. aCommerce, based in Bangkok, Thailand;  is a full-service, end to end e-commerce logistic business helping brands manage their Southeast Asia distribution.  ACommerce clients include l’Oreal, Kiehls, Luxola and more.

Southeast Asia consists of countries like the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand. These countries are having tremendous economic growth, and some even call it “the next big e-commerce opportunity” right behind China.

Paul explains in this podcast that companies looking to expand to Southeast Asia must take into considerations specific country regulations, and developing shipping / payment infrastructure. Additionally, credit card and Paypal penetration are still low which means customers prefer cash-on-delivery payments.
