Fashion Influencers of Asia – Interview with Jessica from IFBK Seoul
Hi Guys! Today I’m bringing you the 4th episode of my most recent series Fashion Influencers of Asia. As I have mentioned in previous posts, I traveled through Asia recently and I was able to sit down and interview a really cool group of fashion influencers, designers, photographers and bloggers in cities like Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul and Bangkok. In this episode, we’re still in the beautiful and very fashionable city of Seoul, where I met with Jessica, a fashion blogger for IFBK Seoul. Jessica has been living in South Korea for about 3 years now, and I was eager to ask her why is it that Korean are so on trend and where to find the most fashionable Koreans in the city.
It was interesting to find that trends are very important for Koreans, and that they don’t mind changing up their style to stay on top of current trends, unlike any other country in the world. TV, celebrities and instagram are very influential in their choices of clothes and brands.
Another interesting thing is that, at least in Jessica’s opinion, Koreans tend to be very well dressed, however sometimes it looks too well put together, it’s very important for them to look good, so everything is meticulously thought out in advance when it comes to their outfits and overall look.
Jessica recommens western brands to research the actual style of Koreans before they venture into this market, because even though they are trendy, their look is always clean and put together. And even though Koreans put western brands on a pedestal, if they do not fit that mold, Koreans won’t go for it. This is very important advice given that Korea is a gateway into the whole Asian market: if they like something in Korea, then the rest of Asia will probably like it too.
