Is blogging still relevant?
We’ve all heard content is king by now. But is all content created equal? Today I’m going to share with you all why I decided to stop blogging…and perhaps you should too.
I get it. I might raise some eyebrows.
Blogging is still the top recommended way to drive traffic to your WordPress Website through SEO strategy. But these days, if you’re looking to rank high for a specific keyword you might be better off using video instead.
Why? Because unless you already have a big audience, you’re in for a time consuming process to get a high Google ranking. Everything today is moving towards visual content. The way people consume media is changing, and most social media platforms are pushing hard to grow their video presence.
People often tell me they feel intimidated by video blogging. You might think it’s more time consuming than publishing a post, but that doesn’t have to be the case. It’s actually easier to rank with a keyword via YouTube than with good old-fashioned blogging.
So I changed my strategy. I personally decided to only focus on what I’m good at — which is videos — and I’ve already seen great results. If you search for the term Fashion Ecommerce Consultant, my website is ranked right at the top.
Yes, I’ve worked on getting referral traffic. But it’s also because I regularly post business tips on YouTube. If you’re a blogger or a brand that’s just started out, you might give it a shot. It’ll help you stand out from your competitors and you can get started with the camera on your smartphone.
What do you all think? I’d love to hear what you guys think about blogging as content marketing. Share your thoughts in the comments below!
