V22: How To Boost Your Youtube Views with Newsjacking

This year, I finally accomplished my long term goal of starting my youtube channel. I have learned a few things along the way.
Per my podcast, episode with Gideon Shadwick (check it out if you haven’t listened to it) – Consumers are 64% more likely to buy after watching a Youtube video.

It’s hence important to have a youtube channel to bring additional traffic and potential customers to your e-commerce site.
Now, once you have started your youtube channel, you will need to boost your youtube views. This is where Newsjacking comes in.

Here is how you can get started:

1) Timing is everything: When deciding to newsjack a story, timing is everything. You want to be able to comment within a few hours while the item is still breaking news. Ideally, you should comment on topic before major publications pickup the story. I posted a video commentary about ELLO to learn it was too late in the game. It’s, therefore, important you react quickly to be able to reap the benefits of newsjacking.

3) Fact Check + Research Keyword Search Volume: This goes without saying, but make sure to fact check a breaking news item. Remember the three boob lady? Don’t comment on fake news – unless you are just going for the comedic aspect. It will hinder your business a great deal otherwise.
Lastly, perform a quick SEO research to determine the keyword density volume of a specific keywords. You want to ensure before you invest your time creating a video commentary that the subject item will bring enough traffic / views. You can use here an app like Longtail Pro.
